It was fast and efficient, though I've never paid a higher rate for labor. $170 total to change a rusted fuel filter that took .75 hours and costs $29 for the part. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I have a mechanic I go to regularly who I couldn't in this case go to and, despite the commentary below, understand exceptionally well that this price was far in excess of what it would be, fairly.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, Lindsey. Just to be clear, the $166 you paid to change the rusted fuel filter on your 1998 Ford E-150 Econoline Van included tax, the fuel filter, and all the labor. I actually had to pull your file and double check, because I was a little confused the way it was written. The fee also includes our 3 year, 36,000 mile Nationwide warranty that is valid Coast-to-Coast, as well as free shuttle ride if you need it or vehicle pick-up and delivery. We appreciate your business and will continue to strive to be the best value in the Valley while providing next level service!

They were responsive, polite and through. Dave was a pleasure to work with (Oak Harbor). The repairs were a bit expensive but the you pay for quality and service which is what you will revive here. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the great report, CE!!

A Company of Thieves!

Mike, I'm shocked at your attitude. When you limped your van into our facility after literally having run it into the ground, we showed you the utmost hospitality. I notice that most of your other reviews are complaints about how businesses treated your pets, or were unwelcoming to you. We on the contrary made space for your malnourished and neglected dogs and cats and cared for them for the week that you were our guest. When it was determined that the repairs to your '99 Dodge Ram Van were more than you wanted to spend, you decided, against professional advise, to purchase another 20 year old clunker of a Dodge Van - sight unseen! You had it towed from 200 miles away and deposited in our parking lot. Only after you completed the purchase did you let us inspect it for you! How were you even surprised that it was in worse shape than your original van? Then, after we helped you get it running safely, all while you were our guest and observing every step of the process, as well as authorizing every bit of work that we did, you gathered your pets, drove away and tried to cancel payment on your credit card! Of course your bank saw right through your fraud, and so we come to the truth: You are the Real Thief, and honestly you should be ashamed of yourself.

I came to Car Care Clinic at Gateway Transmission in Mount Vernon with a clear objective of what I wanted out of my 1990 Ford F-350 Diesel truck that I had recently purchased. After working with Derek, I was at ease, he was friendly and knowledgeable. Together we came up with a plan to effectively meet the objective in the most practical and economical way possible. Car Care Clinic was able to quickly diagnose the problem, and even worked to find parts clear across the state that were shipped in a timely manner. Their skilled service technicians were able to handle the job. I will be sure to bring any of my other vehicles in to this complete service center. Thank you Car Care Clinic! Y. Dave Klawer

Thank you for your trust in us to complete your work thoroughly. We look forward to continuing to serve your repair needs on your Ford F350 Diesel truck.

Max and Derek (sp?) were very nice to talk with on the phone. That being said, I felt that 255.00 for 1-1/2 hours to diagnose a bad voltage regulator on my truck's alternator was a bit steep. They offered to put a reman on for 511.00. I bought an alternator for 150.00 from NAPA and installed it myself in 20 minutes. I don't understand their pricing system, but to me it was too high.

Mark, thank you for taking the time to comment on your experience. I’m happy the you felt the staff were friendly and helpful. When I read your frustration with the price of a professional competent diagnosis and repair compared with the cost of a Do-It-Yourself project, I understand you. Unfortunately it’s an all-too-common perspective. I know that many people still do not respect the profession of mechanic, and subsequently feel that they do not deserve the salaries and benefits afforded other, similar professionals. I’m happy that once we successfully diagnosed your vehicle you had the time and ability to give it a happy ending.

Took my old worn out truck/SUV here for service. Wanted assurance that it would be capable of towing a small trailer from Idaho to my home. Well, the value of the vehicle was maybe worth $600. After they were done, it cost me just over $6000.00!!! A little common sence on their part would have been appreciated. Who in their right mind would spend that amount on a vehicle in that poor of state. If I would have known the costs would more than double, I would have never put that much money into it. The original quote of $1300.00 was a head scratcher, assuming the whole time that would be the total investment. I get it NOW, you never know what can of worms is getting opened up, but I never dreamed the costs could get so out of hand. Yes, they kept me informed as they went along, the original estimate was $1300.00, but I felt like my truck was being held hostage. "We fixed this for x amount but found this. It's not really safe to drive without it, It will cost this much...then a day or two later...same thing, we fixed this for x amount, but found this. It will cost this much"...this happened at the least three different times. I know it's a tuff business and a thankless one, I may be way off, but I would think that being in the line of work that they are, that they could have told me that, considering the shape the vehicle is in, costs could get as high as .....they never even hinted how expensive it could get. I guess you don't know until you dig in and I guess I didn't ask the right questions, or they totally took advantage of the situation. Crazy!! Anyway, spent soo much on the vehicle that I could no longer afford the trailer.....lesson hopefully learned. Humiliating for a man of my age, and to spend this much on a truck I hardly ever drive. Just used for dump runs and recycle runs, and possibly tow a trailer which ain't happening. Hope someone will learn from my experience and ask the right questions or better yet....keep your beater truck maintained. On a positive note, they did offer me a "free" oil change, and thanked me for bringing my truck/suv in. They were very courteous and friendly. Offered to take me where ever I needed to be dropped off, which was nice but not needed. I had already arranged transportation since I'm a good 20 miles away. And I should mention that this work was done 3 or 4 months ago. And yes, it still bothers me that I spent that amount of money.

Gosh, Bubbie! We're very sorry to hear that you have this level of buyers remorse over the work that you asked us to complete on your SUV. I'm glad that you fairly acknowledge that we kept you informed every step of the way, as we pride ourselves on our top-level communication with our clients. As you remember, our consultative style is designed to find out what you plan to use your vehicle for and tailor our recommendations to your particular situation. And yes, proper annual maintenance is the best way to avoid major repairs. We appreciate your kind words, as we strive to be friendly and courteous to all our friends and clients. And thanks again for mentioning our free shuttle service and loaner cars available to our customers while their vehicles are being repaired.
