Knowledgeable, honest and friendly! I trust Dave and Charles with all our vehicles. Gateway Car care in Oak Harbor stands behind their work. We are very happy we found them. '78 vw bus, '89 jeep cherokee, 2014 vw jetta.

Came in with a transmission question and Dave was up front and honest. Knowing I had opportunity to buy another transmission for a great price, he agreed it would be cheaper to buy the other one than fix mine. This down-to-earth mentality saved me hundreds of dollars - I appreciate his candor as a stand-up guy. Highly recommended and I will be back to have my transfer case serviced!

Dave knows transmissions, end of story. Dave and the other guy (Ed? did not quite catch his name) both know transmissions in depth. The shop has special tools and devices for spotting problems so they can be fixed. I had taken my car to an Everett Chevrolet dealership to fix a transmission leak which they did not fix. Dave fixed my automatic transmission leak. Great customer service, Dave set aside one of the lifts for my 1996 Chevrolet's arrival at the shop, and began work on the problem immediately. Dave then drove me in his personal vehicle to meet my wife for the ride home while my car was in the shop waiting for the too-hot transmission to cool down and order parts for it Would I drive 50 minutes to Gateway Transmission for a repair when there are others much closer to home? Yes I would and did! South Whidbey Jim

Waited over a month to be notified that they had received a replacement part for my cruise control. They took off and lost the part when they did warranty work on my truck brakes.Their mechanic said he never touched it.. My independent mechanic said they took off a part and didn't replace it. Cruise control not working. Still waiting over 6weeks later. They replaced a part that they claimed should have been replaced originally on my truck brakes. Now no brakes and no cruise control. Yesterday I almost crashed in an emergency stop on I-5. My brake pedal went to the floor board. I finally stopped about 2 feet from the car in front of me. Thankfully that driver was worried about my truck and pulled ahead. What's going to happen now? Use a different mechanic!
